How can be the condition of pink eye treated through useful herbal remedies?


Pink eye is a condition of eyes which creates a white patch in the eyes. It is also known as conjunctivitis in medical terms. It is also a type of infection in the eyes. The condition of pink eye must be treated immediately otherwise it may spread to others also. Some of the symptoms of pink include redness and swelling of the eye, itchiness, continuous pain in the eyes, crust near the infected eye, yellowish and greenish discharge from the eye, intolerance to the bright light, excess tearing of the eyes and clear white discharge from the eyes. Some herbal remedies work wonder in treatment of pink eye.

Cold Compresses- It gives instant relief from the symptoms of pink eye. It must be repeated as many times as possible. You can use a clean washcloth to apply cold compress to the eyes by dipping it in cold water.
Saline Water- Similar to cold compress, warm or hot compress is equally effective in giving relief from the
symptoms of pink eye. Saline water is recommended for a hot compress. You have to place a washcloth dipped in warm water on the eyelids for around 10 minutes. Following this, use another wash cloth to apply cold compress to the eyes for instant relief from itchiness and pain caused by the pink eye.

Cold Tea Bags- These are also effective in treatment of pink eye. You can use chamomile tea bags, black tea bags or green tea bags for this purpose. Freeze some dampened tea bags of your choice for 10-15 minutes and then place the same on your eyes. It offers immediate relief from pain and itchiness in the eyes.

Potatoes- These are known to be the natural astringents which help in treating pink eye completely. Cut a slice of potato and put it on your eyes and let it be there for 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, you can also use potato extract and apply the same on the outside of your eyes carefully. It should not enter into your eyes. Continue with the same process for 2-3 days and get rid of pink eye completely. 

Washing the Eyes- You can wash your eyes with a mixture of warm water with little baby shampoo added to it. It will remove unwanted substances from the eyes.

Castor oil- Put one drop of castor oil in each eye once a day to get fast relief from infection responsible for the pink eye.

Honey- Mix pure honey with warm water and put this solution in your eyes drop-by-drop for as many times a day as possible.  In the beginning, you will feel a stinging sensation in eyes but it helps in reducing pain and inflammation of the eyes.

Warm compresses- You can apply warm compress to the infected eyes by adding rose oil, chamomile oil or lavender oil to the warm water. Soak a wash cloth in water and place the same on your eyes. Warm and wet compresses must be used to make the crusted material soft. It must be used especially in the morning as crust-like material gets deposited in large quantities around the eyes during night time when you are sleeping.
